Santa Barbara, Baby!

We bombed the 101 down to SB from the Bay area to see one of my oldest friends Chris and his super sweet GF Becka. Chris introduced Wyatt to the world of mountain biking when we put the car seat in the back of his Vanagon. Wyatt saw several cool bikes and Chris invited him to ride with the Matadors bike club when the training wheels come off.

Wyatt and Stephanie on the "beach" at the old lady of California, Rincon. This was Wyatts first true warm weather and we had no hat for him since it was still winter in NYC. Wyatt didn't know what to make of being outside in only one layer.
A proud father introducing his son to waist to head high surf at Rincon. It was a perfect 75 degrees and glassy. Wyatt was decidedly less impressed by it than his dad who was sad to have to go back to the Rockaways. A side note: When I was a kid "back in the day" there was a lot more beach at Rincon. One of the old-timers told me that a new dam on the Ventura River was stealing all of Rincon's sand. It's sad, since the great waves could be even better with more sand.

Ah, good to see new pics! Do you have a hard time keeping those socks on those little feet? I sure do!
